Founded in 2023, the Antioch Pop Quintet (APQ) consists of various high school students who play pop, rock, jazz, and various other genres of music. Learn about our members below.
Violin I
Katelyn is APQ's founder, first violin, as well as arranger for many of their songs. She is a senior at Antioch Community High School, and participates in the ACHS Chamber Orchestra, 3 of the choirs, marching band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, and the Tri-M music honors society. She has participated in the pit orchestra and the cast for the musicals at ACHS. She has also taken part in the ILMEA District 7 senior orchestra, and the Northern Illinois Honors String Orchestra. Outside of school, she plays violin in the Encore Music Academy Symphony Orchestra, plays in their Marie Ann Vos String Quartet, teaches violin and viola lessons, and composes and arranges music. She also plays violin in the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra.
Violin II
Nathan is APQ's second violin. He is a junior at Antioch Community High School and plays in the chamber orchestra.
Viola
Jonny is a founding member of the APQ and plays the viola for the group. He is a sophomore at Antioch Community High School, where he sings in 3 of the choirs, plays viola in the chamber orchestra, and plays bass in the marching band and jazz band. He also performs with Encore Music Academy on viola in their Symphony Orchestra. He is a violist in the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra as well.
Cello
Caden is APQ’s cellist. He's a sophomore at Antioch Community High School, and is in the school's Chamber Orchestra, aCapella Choir, Jazz Choir, and Madrigal Choir. Beyond school, he is also a member of the Encore Music Academy Symphony Orchestra. He's also played in multiple cello recitals.
Bass
Bailey is APQ's bassist. He is a freshman at Antioch Community High School and plays in the concert orchestra. He also plays viola.
Violin II
Michelle is one of the founding members of the APQ. She played violin for the group, and for the ACHS Chamber Orchestra. Michelle has participated in the Northern Illinois Honors String Orchestra, as well as ACHS's pit orchestra. She was also a member of the Tri-M music honors society at ACHS. She thanks the APQ for giving her an opportunity to play outside of the classroom, and for being a great group of friends. She is now a student at Butler University.
Double Bass
Hudson is a founding member of the APQ and plays upright bass for the group. He played upright bass in both the concert and chamber orchestras, percussion in marching band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble, and guitar in the top jazz band at ACHS. He has also performed with the Northern Illinois Honors String Orchestra. He used to play cello up until 6th grade when Bass was offered. He is now a student at Iowa State University.
Cello
Connor Nance is a founding member of the APQ. He played cello for the group. He is a senior at Antioch Community High School where he plays cello in the schools orchestra. Connor has played cello for 8 years. During this time, he has performed with multiple other orchestras such as the Northern Illinois Honors String Orchestra and Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra's side by side concert. Connor has also been a part of Antioch's pit orchestra.
